Pre & Post Waxing Instructions
Pre-Waxing
General:
Avoid tanning beds and sunbathing for at least 2-days prior to appointment. Please try to have at least 1/4" of hair growth; about two weeks' worth. Exfoliate skin every other day for a week prior to waxing (not for facial waxing ) and moisturize daily. Frequent exfoliation frees hairs that have a thin layer of skin covering them and makes removal easier.
Facial Waxing - Make sure that skin is well hydrated by applying a facial moisturizer or oil daily before your appointment. Dry skin is more likely to experience irritation.
Medications & Waxing:
Discontinue use of topical prescription retinoids (Renova, Retin-a, Differin etc ), products containing retinol, and alpha/beta hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) at least one week prior to waxing. Please wait at least 6 months after stopping Accutane treatment before scheduling a wax. Antibiotic use is also not advised within two weeks.
Please let Irena know if you are using any of the above medications.
Optional - Tylenol may be taken 30-45 minutes before an appointment to minimize discomfort. We advise against taking ibuprofen or products containing aspirin as they thin the blood and increase the chance of bruising.
Post-Waxing
Based on your skin, Irena will recommend a post-waxing home-care regimen and products to calm and soothe your skin.
It is important to let the skin cool down after a wax. The hair follicles are more susceptible to irritation or infection immediately after waxing. Avoid the following for 24 hours unless otherwise noted:
